Gemini Fernandez | Director

It’s the eyes wide, big smile, and pure excitement on a child’s face that keeps me going in this field. I have always wanted to go into Early Child Education since I was in the fifth grade! I found great passion in it and helping students grow and learn all about this world around them.

Starting out in the field of education, I completed a two-year associate program at Colorado Mesa University where I became group lead qualified beginning work at the on campus Early Learning Center as an aid in the preschool program. I missed being home and close to my family, so I moved back to Denver and attended Metropolitan State University of Denver where I completed my Bachelor of Arts in Early Childhood Education with an added Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CLD) endorsement. During that time, I worked at Auraria Early Learning Center as an assistant teacher, then moved into the kindergarten classrooms of Denver Public Schools. From there, I became an Assistant Director and found a passion for supporting teachers and families.

Throughout all my experiences in the classroom, I have always found joy because of my students and families. They always say, “be the change you want to see in the world” and I truly value that, the children of today are our future of tomorrow and I want to show them that they can be the change.

I am so excited to embark on this journey with you and your family here at The Big Red Barn!
