Monthly Updates:

• 🏆 WE DID IT! The Big Red Barn is officially one of the BEST! 🏆
  • We are beyond excited and incredibly proud to announce that The Big Red Barn Early Learning Center has been awarded the BEST of 2026 Lakewood Award in the Preschool category! 🎉💛
  • This is such a huge accomplishment for our BRB family, and we couldn’t be more grateful for everyone who has helped make this possible. Most importantly, we want to recognize our amazing teachers, who work incredibly hard every single day to provide the children in our care with top-tier care, meaningful learning experiences, and a safe and loving environment to grow.
  • This award is a reflection of the dedication, heart, and passion our team puts into what they do each day. We are so proud of our teachers and so thankful to all of our BRB families for trusting us with your little ones.
• Clothes Donations 
  • We are looking for some more clothing donations for our classrooms! Specifically, we are in need of shoes in all sizes, as well as 3T, 4T, and 5T clothing for both boys and girls.
  • Also, if you ever have toy donations that your kiddos have outgrown or no longer use, we would be more than happy to take them! 😊
• Checking in and out
  • Please make sure you are checking your kiddo(s) in and out every day! There are QR codes located throughout our campus to make this quick and easy.
  • This is very important for keeping our attendance records accurate and ensuring we always know which kiddos are in our care. 💕
  • Also, if you haven't already, please take a moment to add a clear headshot of your child to their Playground profile picture. This helps our teachers quickly identify everyone in our care. 😊
• 🚪 Drop-Off & Pick-Up Reminder
  • When dropping off or picking up your child from the playground, please remember that the gates and doors are for parent and teacher use only. Children should not open, close, or operate the gates or doors.
  • At drop-off, parents/guardians must walk their child all the way to the playground and make sure they are safely with a teacher before leaving.
  • At pick-up, we will not release your child from the playground until you are physically present and a teacher has confirmed that you are there.
• 🚨 Fire & Tornado Drill Reminder 🚨
  • We will be practicing fire drills every month, as well as tornado drills throughout the year. All kiddos will participate in these drills so they can become familiar with our safety procedures and know what to do in an emergency.
  • These drills will not be on a scheduled basis. They will take place at some point throughout the month so that we can practice being prepared for an emergency at any time.
    • 🔥 Fire Drills: Everyone will evacuate the building and meet at our designated handicap spot in the front of the building.
    • 🌪️ Tornado Drills: Everyone will move to their classroom bathroom and practice staying in our designated safe area.
  • If you happen to be dropping off or picking up while a fire or tornado drill is taking place, please hold off on entering or leaving the building until the all-clear has been given by Miss Alyscia or Miss Jenny. This helps us keep an accurate count of everyone in our care and ensures the drill can be completed safely.
• 📚 Friday Show & Tell! 🧸
  • Fridays are Show & Tell day in every classroom! We love giving the children an opportunity to share something special with their friends and teachers.
  • When choosing an item to bring, please make sure it is not a choking hazard and is an item you are comfortable with your child bringing to school. Please keep in mind that items can sometimes get lost, misplaced, or accidentally broken during the day, so please only send something that you are okay with your child sharing at school.
• Parents Night Out 
  • We will be hosting Parent's Night Out on September 12th at the Christian Academy from 4:00pm-8:00pm. Please use this link to sign up.
• OKTOBERFEST 
  • Mark your calendars and get those family recipes out! Our annual Oktoberfest and Chili Cook Off celebration will be hosted at The Big Red Barn Learning Center on Saturday September 19th from 3:30 - 7:00 pm! Join us for good food, great beer, and some groovy live music performed by our very own Mr. Luke's Jam Band! The winner of the Chili Cook Off will receive an extra day of either Baby PTO for parents or vacation PTO for staff!
